Hand embroidery on a shirt is one of those details that changes how a garment feels to wear — and how it reads to other people. This is what Haus of Handmade has built its embroidered shirts range around.
What is a hand-embroidered shirt?
A hand-embroidered shirt is one where the embellishment — thread work, crystal placement, sequin work or applique — is done by a person, not a machine. At HOH, every embroidered shirt goes through two stages: the base garment is cut and constructed first, then the embroidery is placed by hand at our Noida atelier. No iron-on patches. No machine embroidery. Each shirt is a small-batch piece that will not be restocked identically.
Types of embroidery work at HOH
Thread embroidery: Classic hand thread work in floral, geometric and abstract patterns. Cotton base shirts with embroidery at the collar, cuffs or as allover placement. Suits office and occasion wear equally well.
Swarovski crystal work: Premium crystal stones placed by hand on poplin and cotton base shirts. The crystal placement is mapped per style and stitched one stone at a time. High catch in light — suited to evenings, client dinners and occasions.
Hand-sequining: Loose sequin work applied by hand for a draped, fluid shimmer effect — different from heat-transfer sequin panels used by mass market brands. Breathable and flexible.
Floral applique: Fabric flowers and leaf forms cut and stitched by hand onto the garment surface. Creates a three-dimensional texture that sits away from the fabric. Suited to occasion and festive wear.
How to style embroidered shirts for women in India
For office: pair a thread-embroidered cotton shirt with tailored trousers and pointed flats. The embroidery adds interest without disrupting the professional read. For occasions: a Swarovski or sequined shirt with wide-leg pants and heels is a complete evening look that does not require a separate outfit. For casual dressing: a lightly embroidered poplin shirt with straight-cut jeans and white sneakers.
Embroidered shirts vs. printed shirts — which is better?
Printed shirts use ink or dye applied to fabric — the pattern is flat and identical across every unit produced. Embroidered shirts have texture that sits above the fabric surface, catches light differently at different angles, and cannot be exactly replicated. If distinction and craft are what you are buying, an embroidered shirt delivers something a printed shirt cannot.
